A Crazy Little Thing Called Care

This post is a combination of things that involve care. This topic is thrown around all of the time and it doesn't get the credit that it deserves most times. When a person cares for another it can be the most delicate and important thing in this life at the same time. It does not take much at all to make an impression that is noticed as care at all. Then there are the people who don't care, could care less, and of course those who don't have a care in the world. That last one can be tricky. All in all though, we all care about something more than our very lives itself. I believe this with all of my soul. For some of us it's another person, or an animal, or even a home. It's true, care comes in all shapes and sizes.

I was in the post office yesterday. I was standing in a very short line and I would make it to the front in about 2 minutes or less. A woman came in quite abruptly. She and I locked eyes for some reason and she asked me if the post office sold s…

Can I Take Your Picture?

When you are riding on the NY subway you can always count on something to jump out at you and spray you with a bit of entertainment. I am not talking about the dancers who put on a show, or the occasional poet, or singer. Although, I do highly respect them as well. I am talking about the kind of entertainment that comes from the basic train rider who just gives you an impromptu piece of themselves for just the price of the subway ride.

She walked on the train and her face was painted as if she were in the new Cirque Du Soleil show. She was about 30 or so, and she was very attractive. I saw her as she walked on the train from about 10 feet away. I was mesmerized by how detailed her face was painted. I watched as others stared at her as well and in about 1 minute, she was the center of attention on the train.

I began to wonder why she was painted this way? Was she in a show somewhere? Was she on her way to a special even that each invitee had to have a face painting? Was she co…

Things Can Turn On A Dime

We all can agree that each day brings us new and interesting challenges. I actually prefer it that way, truth be told. I can tell you for sure though, that I am getting so much better at not reacting right away when something blind sides you that can bring the whole mental house down. None of us can expect to know what is in store on any level.

I heard a saying some time ago that states its the person that is in the wrong that usually does the most talking. When I heard this, I watched how it looked on other people as I studied two people in conflict and it seemed to be right on the money. I mean if you have done nothing wrong, how much do you have to talk to prove your point to get it across to the other person in the conversation? It goes without saying that many people can maintain a life of misery based on bad choices or things that did not work out in their favor. So going forward, they stay on that course and just rustle up all kinds of madness for others.

So You Think You Can Win? / Goodbye David

Today was a day that was flooded by two topics, the death of David Bowie, and the new amount of money that could be won by winning the lottery. I am fascinated by how some topics literally shoot through the world with such speed and accuracy. It just goes to show you that we are all connected whether we like it or not.

So this thing about the lottery. I have heard people speaking about it on the street, in the stores, and even on the subway just today alone. All of the usual questions of course. What would you do if you won? Who would you give money to? How much of it would you save? How would you invest it? I collectively heard those all today. I could not get away from this conversation. I think about it from a very linear perspective. I believe that if you are happy and open to the world now, you will be more of that when you win the money. On the other hand, if you are cruel, nasty, vindictive, and angry at the world, you will more of that when you are filthy rich. This theo…
