Getting Things Done

It seems that we spend our lives getting things done. We tell ourselves that anyway. I spent a good portion of my day today doing just that on many levels. I must have done at least 12 different things and it actually felt really good. Then I asked myself, what did I do that will make tomorrow a little bit easier and when will I have to do that thing again? I also am very focused on making time "for" myself right now. I see a huge difference between doing things myself vs. doing things for myself. There has to be time for you. That piece or pieces of time that are just reserved for you to flow.

I have spoken to my friends from time to time about this concept and most of them say that they have very little if any time for themselves. They own it and commit to it as well. I was thinking back to when I was a child and I could not remember if my parents took time for themselves either. I always remember them taking care of me and making sure that I was doing the right thing and/or being taken proper care of. I am very sure that they were doing things for themselves in one way or another because they absolutely deserve it on all levels.

Yesterday I got something done that I had put off for about 4 months or so. It was not dire, however it was in plain view for me to see each and every day. I completed it in about 15 minutes and it was super easy. So why did it take me so very long you may ask? I am sure that the answer is that I did not commit to it and there was no penalty for me not to commit either. It's interesting how this happens. Sometimes we need a fire under us to move quickly and to get things done. Everyone is different.

It's funny though, we all have that one friend that seems to never be getting things done. You ask them about their day or their life and they tell you that they have so much to do, yet they cannot get to it. Let's be real, we all block ourselves willingly from things that we should do. That ends when we say it does each and every time. But as I said in a past post, it is never as hard to do the things that we should do after we do them. It's us that complicates it each and every time. I have done this many times and I think I have finally gotten this concept down. I will always remain a student though, always.

I have heard it said that if you want to get something done, give it to a busy person and it will get done. I thought about that a few times and it finally makes sense. I find that the people who have the time would rather squander it and not get necessary things done. Do you find that to be a truth or a fallacy? There is always a reason or a pseudo reason why we are not doing what we know we have to do right? It doesn't make us bad people, it just makes us human. So once we realize that we are human, then we can decide to kill it and go deeper. I have never seen a mechanical bow and arrow that can hit the bulls eye each and every time, have you? In other words, we all have to focus and we all have to make things happen and get things done. Not one of us gets a pass. Keep striving my good people.
