The Shiniest Shoe Shine Man

Firstly, Let me apologize for allowing life to control my time over the past week or so. I have been doing so much that now I am caught up in blog overload. So many things have entered my brain that I want to write about that it is just overwhelming. When I started this blog, my intention was to write everyday. The truth though, is that I assumed that it would be too much for the average person's email to handle. However, I have received some requests to post more, so that is what I will do.

This man in the video above is named Don. I cannot tell you how impressed I was with him in so many ways. I can honestly say that I have never seen a man do this seemingly menial job with such passion! He smiles and jokes and laughs and informs as easy as water running down the side of a mountain. Quite honestly, I wanted to have three more pairs of shoes shined just to continue speaking with him. This man is truly connected to a force that is greater than can be seen with the naked eye.

So there I was getting my shoes shined. As the people walked by, it was as if there was a show going on simultaneously and I had a front row seat for it. Shoes are a very important accessory for every human as we take thousands of steps every day no matter where we live. It is quite remarkable how many people do not take proper care of their shoes. Not to worry though, Don is letting them all know in the most direct yet comical way. Even if they do not stop and gift themselves with his stellar service, they leave with a smile and a reminder that it's time to do some maintenance down there close to the ground.

I stopped and spent about 15 minutes with him yesterday and it was once again just an immense pleasure to be in his presence. My shoes glistened and my soul smiled as I walked away. Not bad for $5 and a $2 tip. It's always the small things and the hidden magic that delivers.
